Any intake of sugar makes me terribly sick. This isn't just yeast overgrowth. I'm convinced that many of us have a form of virus or reactivated infections. In looking at neuropathies (have terrible pain in legs), hepatitis, Lyme, AIDs, CMV virus and herpes viruses were implicated. Why aren't these areas being investigated by POTS experts?
Add Epstein - Barr (mono) to that list...I was just diagnosed in March with a reactivation of the mono virus that I had about 20 years ago! I was diagnosed w/POTS/OI in Feb - while I was on the treadmill in my stress test I told my cardio that I felt like I just couldn't put one foot in front of the other - he immediately ordered a titer of many viruses...I think I have had POTS for a long time - but, it became exacerbated by the reactivation of the mono a few months ago. I agree with you that they should be investigating all of these viruses and their connection to POTS...I almost wish i could go back in time, do better in math and science, and become a researcher!

The chronic fatigue experts are looking into these connections. POTS seems to be common in / related to chronic fatigue. I guess the POTS researchers are aware of it too. "Viruses are thought to be the provoking factor in approximately 50% of POTS patients (Low & Schondorf, 1997, p. 279). There are reports of dysautonomia occurring after the Epstein-Barr virus (Itoh, Oishi, Ohnishi, Murai & Imawatari, 1993). Viruses may directly affect the autonomic nervous system or lead to an immune pathogenesis (Grubb, 2000). Roughly one-half of post-viral POTS patients will make a good practical recovery over a 2-5 year period (Grubb, Kanjwal & Kosinski, 2006)."

I to have reactive hypoglymia. This disorder somehow effects the system that regulates blood sugars. I have found protein bars to be very helpful with this.
