Hello everyone,

I used to play the piano (if you call what I did to it playing) and I started tinkering on it again today. I opened a church songbook and flipped through some pages. This hymn has a much stronger meaning to me now and I thought I'd share the words with all of you. Hope it gives you the comfort I felt. (it is copyrighted, but I think this is ok)

"Where Can I Turn for Peace?"
Text: Emma Lou Thayne
Music: Joleen G. Meredith

Where can I turn for peace? Where is my solace
When other sources cease to make me whole?
When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,
I draw myslef apart, Searching my soul?

Where, when my aching grows, Where, when I languish,
Where, in my need to know, where can I run?
Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?
Who, who can understand? He, only One.

He answers privately, Reaches my reaching
In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend.
Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching.
Constant he is and kind, Love without end.

I hope this brings you joy. God bless.

Hi GoArmy -

I am a piano teacher (although I have had to stop for now) and I am so happy to hear that you are tinkering again. It doesn't matter how good you are, playing is so therapeutic and music can be so healing.

What a beautiful hymn! I wasn't familiar with that one - thanks for sharing it and keep tickling those ivories!

Thanks Go Army for that hymn. My daughter w/POTS is home from school once again with extreme dizziness and I've had a pit in my stomach all morning! It seems that whenever I'm down, in some way God sends people my way to uplift me and you've done that today for me.

I'm also a piano teacher and I encourage to keep playing. I find myself playing more when I'm down in the dumps and it even seems to help anxiety at times. Like trebleclef said, it doesn't matter how good you are. If you enjoy it and it helps you to feel better, that's what matters.

God bless and I pray for a good day for you!
Brenda

I'm so glad you both enjoyed that hymn. It has been stuck in my head ever since and I've really enjoyed thinking through the words again.

You two will be sad to know that I never took piano lessons! I play other instruments, so I can read music and fake the piano playing. Still tinkering away!

God will never ask us to do more than we are capable of. I just need to be reminded of that! Sigh...
Glad you liked it
