i'm a freshman in highschool, and this year has been so hard for me. i'm still not able to go to school, and i tell myself i will be better and i'll turn out fine but lately it's just been so hard to stay positive. i tried going for a day last week, i layed on a couch for all my classes except for 2 and when i got home i coudln't move. because i was so weak. does it get any easier? please tell me you guys are doing all well, getting through high school and college, and work. i really need encouragement right now.
also, another question, i dont' know if it's the brain fog, i'm so new to this, but i have such a difficult time concentrating even if i'm just talking to someone. i try so hard to listen and i feel so bad but i have to tell them to repeat themselves, because i just can't concentrate. i feel so stupid because they laugh but i dont think it's funny haha does that happen to anyone else? |

Hello,
Sometimes when I am exhausted, I do have a really time concentrating is awful! I am so sorry you are going through this at such a young age. Recently I was so desperate about how tired I was that I went to see an Alternative Medicine doctor. I was happy to hear that she had heard of dysautonomia, but despite that what she did was ask me some questions about my life, relationships and emotions, then measured the energy of all my organs through my fingers. It was quite interesting and the treatment is with natural things. Due to the illness she suggested I do not drop the doctors treatment, but do both and she said this was going to help me. So for I've had had two terrific days!! I've been feeling much better and I think that this disease constantly is reminding you that you are sick because you feel really bad physically so that is set in your mind all of the time. What I being doing for the past couple of days is making positive affirmations about my health, so I repetive several times througout the day: "My health is mental and perfect and so it manifests in such way!" I've been feeling great. This might help too!! |

Hi Laureejo,
For me - the brain fog definitely makes it hard to focus and concentrate. And my memory is a mess. And I find that on the days I'm more tired, it is worse. I have hope that it does get better - but each person is different and the treatment can vary. Your doctor will have to figure out with you what works best. Back to the fog, I work from home thank goodness, but i have broken down into tears because of the frustration of not understanding or remembering at times. And once in a conf call, I literally forgot what I was talking about mid sentence and had to ask the others what I had been talking about. The 2 coworkers I was talking with know fully about my health issues...but 1 actually laughed. That hurt my feelings that he would think it was funny when it is the most frustrating thing. One of my top 3 symptoms impacting my life. I have read that for people who get pots as teenagers, they often outgrow it. But again, each person is different. My heart goes out to you. Being a teenager is hard enough. I wish you the best and I hope your treatment plan starts helping you feel 'better'. |

thanks for the help, i'll have to talk to my mom about that. the feeling weak thing bothers me more than feeling sick sometimes. because if you're sick you can still push yourself, but weakness is too hard.
i'm sorry about that happening at work, i get that too, people will laugh at me for forgetting what i'm talking about. & it's pretty hard to explain why. bc they don't get it. ive actually had it most of my life they think, does that make it harder to grow out of? i really want to know. thanks for the support, it's nice to finally talk about this to someone who knows what i'm going through |

Like Baxter said everyone is different, only God knows what your future holds.
I have been ill since I was a child and I will be 50 this year. I also have brain fog, memory problems, a hard time concentrating and understanding. I truely hope you are one of the lucky ones that grows out of this. I wish you all the best. |

Hang in there! I am concerned about you And understand how you feel... Give yourself a break, you can't help you missed classes. I was only able to do two years of college... you might want to try online colleges, if it doesn't get any easier for you. Please know I care and you are in my prayers... email me if you would like too for support.
