I have just found this site and have been reading a lot of the posts. My first ? is whether POTS is the same as MVP/Dsy? I see a lot written about POTS. I don't suffer from debillitating IO, so my chief complaint is managing the exhaustion.

I had a hysterectomy in Dec for heavy bleeding which has left me anemic any way. Add to that the low blood volume, and I haven't been doing a whole lot of anything. I read the post about quick fixes (drink, exercise, etc) and it reminded me what I need to do right away.

I am not sure whether to be diagnosed or not, I am self-dx. The symptoms fit like a glove. I take Prozac for the temperate regulation, but not sure if this is really working right now. The hyster has sent my body in so many directions. I was so cold from Dec to Mar, not my usually complaint...used to be too hot b4 the Prozac.

Just not sure where to go right now, other than the changes to diet and exercise. I know I need to do those, but its such a vicious cycle...tired, eat sugar, crash, sleep, eat sugar, crash.

Hi and welcome,
If you have questions....this is the right place to be. Great people, great support. I was dxed with Dys and told that I had pots, syncope, mvp. From what I understand, dys covers any type of dysfunctioning of your central nervous system. I was put on paxil xl and toprol cr to stabilze my heart arrythmia. It has helped the oi but I deal with numerous symptoms that change whenever. I have had this for about 7 years, and it can be a real pain. This site has been an answer to my prayers. Have you tried not using sugar?? I can no longer use it, and have to watch my natural sugar, because it will send me into a spell. Then I'm out if it for at least an hour. Jut a thought....I'm not diabetic either. suzq

Yes, being off sugar does help, but it's soooo hard not to eat it. I do sleep better w/o the sugar.

So do Dys and NS go hand in hand with MVP? What tests do you have to take in order to be dxed with it? Could it be that I may have it too? Any sympstoms I should watch out for?

What is NS? You can have MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse) w/o having dsy. There has been some discussion as to whether dsy causes mvp or the other way around. Mine became symptomatic after an illness, so I side with the argument that dsy can cause mvp.
