I know many of you have medical alert ids and I am probably going to get one. Although I've given all family members a sheet of paper with all my info and allergies, there's always a chance something will happen when they're not around. Anyway, I was wondering what those of you who have POTS put on your bracelet. I don't want to list POTS because they probably won't know what that it. I know I'll put afib and atrial arrythmias but do you put just blood pressure instability or autonomic dysfunction? I think instead of naming the actual dysautonomia I should name specific symptoms. Any thoughts?

I list the allergies and then see medical ID card in purse. I carry a medical ID card in my purse in an easy to find RED card holder that says EMERGENCY. The card goes into more detail.

I have the same problem. I don't want to put POTS so I figure I should list dysautonomia, adrenal insufficiency, etc. We can't list everything that comes with dysautonomia or no one will want to treat us. I can't even get my family to understand the illness so I made a care for each of them to carry.

My necklace says...

Syncope,
POTS.
See wallet
Card

Then beneath that is the medical alert ID number. My wallet card has my whole diagnosis, meds, name, and contacts.

I keep my necklace hidden under my blouse. I work with a bunch of nosey nurses and I don't want my medical condition to be gossiped about at every clinic in the city. I also don't want people offering me a chair every 10 seconds, as it would be kinda annoying. The problem with wearing the necklace is that it is less noticeable than the bracelet so if you pass out then bystanders and paramedics may not notice it. They should always notice it at the ER though.
