Hi Mo and welcome to NDRF.

Conversion Disorder, or some version of it, is a common mis-diagnosis. I wouldn't let it throw me either. I have heard that some folks have been successful with disability claims, but it seems you really have to have an attorney if you are turned down the first time.

Maybe someone else that has been through the process will stop by.

Take care.

I am on SSD--but I got it years ago for orthopedic troubles--not Dys--it came later.

Still, maybe I can help since I've been down this road.

First EVERYONE (even my sis in law dying from lung cancer) gets turned down the first time. It's just "the process."

Second, many people (including me) DO get approved the second time. So just follow the process and file again.

At this point let me say it SUCKS!! Being ill is bad enough--without having THIS BS and stress to deal with on top of it.

Unfortunately I can't tell you ANY other way to get there but to go thru this. You can hire an atty--he will just take a HUGE chunk of your money and do nothing more than file the papers you're filing anyway--and someof them take their sweet time getting around to doing it.

So it's time to put your "big girl panities on" and get busy! Doing this WIll help take your mind of it anyway, right? Smiler

I wouldn't suggest that you get an atty until after the SECOND turn down--if it goes that far.

Lastly, you might try a visit to your local credit bureau about your bills. They can contact the people you owe and set you up on MUCH lower payments and put a "health" note into your credit record as to why this is needed. Credit bureau offices usually offer this service at no charge so call first, get an appt, take all your bills, go there--not to some "bill consolidation" company who will take a big chunk of what you pay and put it in their own pockets!

If your bills get too far gone you'll be sued and the court costs can double or even triple them! So doing this ASAP is very important while you wait for SSD to get it all worked out.

Also getting the bills under control will ease the stress.

I sincerely hope this helps you--feel free to write me anytime at cbeachinn@aol.com if I can help any other way.

I wish the best possible for you! Big Grin

XOXOXOXOX
