Being a mom of a toddler, I really need naps, but can't just call someone out of the blue when I just really need a nap... sometimes I get tired/fatigued right after getting up, sometimes its in the afternoon, sometimes it just all day long, etc. Is there anything we can tolerate that would boost my energy a bit without increasing my adrenaline surge issues? I've tried different energy drinks and they all affect my in a negative way and caffeine is out of the question as I can't tolerate even a sip. Thanks for any ideas

HI there...
I'm in the same boat as you. I have a 21 month old and there are times I have made her stay in her crib so I could rest...I feel so incredibly guilty for that too. I dont' have any suggestions really...just when I am wiped I will lay down on the couch or the floor and turn on the music (she loves to dance) and get a bunch of books out to try to read to her - or at least show her....and count the minutes until her nap time or my husband gets home, etc |

I literally drag for the rest of the day, or accidentally fall asleep in uncomfortable places - ie my desk.
Energy drinks are nasty. There's so much fake stuff in them -the combination of guarana, caffeine, and high amounts of taurine is very bad for some (can cause seizures). Have you tried nutritional drinks? The ones with added protein and vitamins. It wouldn't replace sleep, but it may make you feel a little better. Just make sure to thoroughly check for bad ingredients - including artificial sweeteners if those are a problem for you. |

This is a really tough one for me too! So I'll be watching this thread alongside you guys!
The ONLY thing I've found that helps much is b-12. I did not test deficient on this, but did test on the exact bottom end of the scale. I take the smallest dose--250mg and ONLY when it's really a bad day. But I am NOT a doctor--and probably you should be tested for b-12 levels before "trying this at home." Past that the only thing that helps is chugging some water--not overdosing--just chug a bottle 2 or 3 times a day max! Often I put 1/4 cup of lemon juice and a bit of salt in it too--but I ALWAYS check my BP b4 adding salt. Lastly, this is one of those, "ya really should ask your doctor sort of things." ANY thing that peps me up is VERY prone to cause troubles. Anyway, thanks for opening this thread--I too need this answer! |
