Hey everyone- is there anyone out there on propranolol? My cardiologist just put me on it today. I've been on low dose of midodrine, can't tolerate the side effects in higher doses. I'm also on neurotonin, for the neuropathy in my hands. Any input would be great, thanks-jen

I have hyperadrengeric and neuopathic POTS. I'm on propranolol 10mg three times daily. The first week or so was really rough due to the side effects. I felt a lot better after about a month. Now that I have been on it for awhile, I can't imagine going with out it. My vision has gotten so much better that I almost never use my glasses anymore and I feel much more comfortable all around except that it has increased fatigue and drowsiness.

Once you are on it you may have a hard time going off it. I forgot my afternoon pill today, and I thought I was going to die. Luckily there was a pharmacy nearby and I was due for a refill.

I am on Propranolol 20 mg 2 times a day. They are talking about increasing it since my heart rate the mojarity of the time is not below 100 bpm.

I am also on propranolol - 20 mg twice a day.
I think that it going to be change - since I don't have a lot of success returning to my self after my last seizure.

I took it a few years ago and didn't like it. It wasn't the right bb for me. It kept my HR around 100, and dropped my BP too low which at the time was not good for me (nowdays my BP is different--it's higher than it was back then.) It dropped it so low once that I ended up in the back of an ambulance...so, like I said, just not the correct one for me personally.

Propranolol is the beta-blocker I got to use as symptomatic relief when my pulse "gets stuck" higher than I like it. 10mg works well - but takes a whole hour to take effect, which is a nuisance. 5 mg is too little (rebound effect after 3 hours), 15 or 20mg had no advantage over 10mg.

I haven't had to use it daily for more than 5 days in a row, so haven't noticed any bp lowering effects - which is good.

Propranolol is very commonly prescribed here (Finland) for "stage-fright" (performance anxiety), anxiety-related tachycardia and stuff like that. Probably because it is very old, and very cheap.

Incidentally, it is also very useful against that unspecific feeling of physical "bleh" that comes with hang-overs :-).
