I keep waking at night with chest and arm numbness and tingling. I don't have the feeling during the day or when upright, only at night or when laying down for periods of time.
I had an echocardiogram and cardio-pulmonary testing done that came back normal. I had a sleep study done and that shows nothing. My cardiologist wants to do a CT coronary angiogram but insurance won't approve it. Does anyone else have any similar symptoms? I take Topamax and a beta-blocker Bisoprolol (Zebeta). Thanks for any opinions/suggestions. Lynn |

Maybe take your BP and pulse when having these symptoms? Maight ease your mind some--or give some clues? But might not mean anything.
FYI I get all sorts of weird heart pounding and odd chest stuff when I lie down. Stress test--for me--showed abnormal at rest--normal when excericising. Have you had a stress test? Or maybe a 24 hour heart monitor? <cheaper stuff that might show something> Again, my body can do 17 impossible things before breakfast. <chuckles> I just am trying to learn to deal with it. |

I don't have tingling in my chest but I do often get it in my arms and legs. I really hate it - feels kinda like I've turned into silly putty while I slept! Can't really offer any insight into what it is other than it's been suggested that it has something to do with bloodflow. I'm going to mention it to my Dr. when I see him in a few weeks and will share with you what he has to say (if anything...).

I have already passed a stress test - actually did quite well. I also did the 24 hour heart monitor - I do have PVC's and some skipped heart beats and double beats. The cardiologist does not seem concerned about any of that. The beta-blocker seems to help reduce those symptoms some.
When I am having the chest/arm numbness and tingling my blood pressure and pulse seem to be lower. Sometimes I have to get up because I am afraid to go to sleep - the BP is low, 86/54 for example and my pulse is in the low 40's. I was thinking blood flow too...I don't know how I could get it to flow better so I could get some decent sleep. I was up all last night again. |

I know when my blood pressure is low I do tend to tingle more. It starts in my head and moves its way down. I can empathize with the difficulty sleeping when you're dealing with this. Maybe if you load up on water and salt prior to going to bed it will help keep your bp up while you sleep??? If it's a bp issue, maybe it would work - I don't know - it's a long shot but worth a try.

Could be a c-spine problem. Maybe you can ask for a MRI.

I get the same thing. Lots of tingling in arms/hands, and a rushing feeling around rib cage that goes down - seems to be worse when I lie down but I sometimes wonder if that's because I am just more likely to notice it when I'm still.
I still don't understand what causes the pins and needles/tingling feeling. I assume it has something to do with bloodflow as it is similar to the feeling one gets when one's foot "falls asleep" and then "wakes up." Good luck, Heidianne |
