In the last 6 months my eyesight has deteriorated massively. I went from just needing glasses for reading to constant headaches and needing bi and vari focal glasses 24/7. Could this be a POTs related issue?

I have the same problem. There is tons of pressure on my right eye. I wear bifocals that mom got me at the store, cant see anything, hang in there. The migraines and daily headaches are miserable. I feel your pain.

I have had a lot of eyesight issues due to medications. When I went off of some of them, my eyesight got better (although it has deteriorated some). Have you started any new medications in the last 6 months? Just a thought....

i started on diclofenac about 6months ago but im on a new heart drug called procoralan ivabradine(i dont think its available in the US yet)-and they are still unsure about some of the side effects that it could cause!I would like to come off of it and see if things improve but I had a bad reaction to beta blockers and they said I should stay on medication. Ive been on ivabradine for 1 1/2 years so Im not sure it even could be that......

U might want to check with a neuro or eye doc. I have something called Adie's pupil, and that is autonomic dysfunction. Sometimes my pupils are different sizes and they rarely react to light. The neuro said to stop buy new lenses every 3 months (also have some other eye issues and need glasses for distance). However, it is really hard to fit me, cuz my pupils don't behave. I sort of like my current distance rx, but cannot see at all out of my bifocals. So, I found I am better off getting the cheap walgreens reading glasses. THis year I went from 1.75 to 2.75 or 3.25 depending on the day. The neuro and eye doc (oh and even endocrinologist) all said it is assoc with autonomic dysfunction. So, get ur pupils check for size and reaction to light.

Like Nesh my eyesight changes all the time. An eye doc said it was fine to stick with the cheap reading glasses and to forget trying to get a prescription for middle distance -- as my eyesight changes all the time I've experienced picking up a new pair of bi-focals only to find they are absolutely useless.
I do have prescription reading glasses with a tinted lense that I use when on the computer and I move my lap top closer to me, or further away, depending on how good my reading distance is that day. Some days I can't see middle distance for anything -- just one big blur. Other days it's not too bad. Sometimes not being able to see middle distance clearly freaks me out a bit but mostly I do okay. My long distance is mostly good. Seeing an eye specialist put my worries in this area to rest. |

I have tons of eyesight issues too. Always been near-sighted, but an easy fix.
Now, my pupils respond differently going from light to dark and vice versa. Once, when I was still terrified and had no dx, my eye doc examined me and said, "Hmmm....has anyone ever told you that your pupils are irregular (different sizes)." Scared the bejeebers out of me, but I just said "No." And he went out to shrug and say, "Well, its not illegal, but..." I was young and so terrified, I didn't tell him about all my other symptoms as I was afraid he'd take a closer look and tell me I was dying. I could kick myself now. A few years later, I went back on a day when my eyes weren't acting up as much and he just confirmed my same prescription for new glasses... I then mentioned what he had noticed a couple years earlier about the irregularities, and he looked again, and just said, "Well, not this time." So... who knows. What really sucks for me about vision irregularities is it interferes with my hobby. I love to scrapbook and paper craft and I'm constantly taking glasses on and off. Gotta have the light just right, but then, a few minutes later...its not just right anymore |

Hi Sherri,
I'm interested in your 'scap booking.' What sort of things do you put in it? Just wondering because I really need to do something a bit creative. Something that takes me 'out of myself' a bit and stops me ruminating on stuff. I'm a prolific movie watcher. And when my POTS isn't bothering me too much I listen to music. I also bake cakes and biscuits (cookies) and pies etc., when I'm able to stand okay. I'm now getting into very beginners pilates and intend to resume swimming in mid September. I used to journal but got sick to death of writing the same stuff over and over again. I didn't find it 'enligtening' to journal. Instead I found it pretty depressing when I read over past entries. I can't draw to save my life (unlike all my siblings who inherited my father's artistic abilities) and I've heard mention a couple of times on the forum by a few members that they scrap book. Also some make personal greeting cards, that sort of stuff. This is a long winded way of asking what do you need to scrap and how you go about it and what sort of stuff you put in it? many thanks, |
