Hi All,

Yesterday evening, I suddenly started feeling painful tingling and some numbness in my right hand. It felt like my hand was asleep, but it also hurt a great deal. This morning, I started to have it in both hands and both feet. I have never experienced anything quite like this before.

I called my neurologist and left a message, but the dr won't be in until Wednesday. I am not sure what to do about this. Does anyone else have this with dysautonomia>?

Thanks.

Pain free days,
sailingm

Hi sailing muffin,

Did you have any weakness in your hand or feet? If you do, then you probably have a problem with large nerve conduction which could stem from your spine or central nervous system. It seems like a lot of the neuropathic pain from dysautonomia results from damage to the small nerve fibers in our skin, blood vessels, etc. That's the case for me.

The worst symptom for dysautonomia for me is horribly painful burning skin. When the burning isn't so bad, the soles of my feet and palms of my hands feel very tingly. My fingers and toes hurt also. I have moments of numbness also. I told my EP doc that often I wear shoes but can't feel what I'm standing on. These symptoms came on literally overnight for me last June, started with my feet and spread upwards til my whole body hurt within a week.

I had a skin biopsy that showed I have vasculitis, but the only neurologist I've seen completely blew me off and said I had no nerve problems and sent me to a vascular doc. I'm going to see a new neurologist in a couple weeks and hopefully he'll be willing to help me.

I know that this symptom is scary, but for me it's ended up just in pain with no answers.

If this worsens, you can try to go to the ER. I'm not sure what they'd do for you besides give pain meds and refer you to a neurologist.
