Has anyone been a patient of Dr. Abi-Samra in NOLA? I live in central Mississippi and nobody here knows how to treat me. His staff tells me he's been treating pots patients for years.

I saw him last week for consult and bloodwork. Next appt will be blood vol test and tilt table. I know I will faint on tilt and they must do 3 times different ways.

How do you feel afterwards? I have a long drive home (3 1/2 hrs).

I am not on any meds yet as they are waiting for these test results.

Thanks!

Hi Michele -
I don't have experience with your Dr. but do have experience with tilts. Do you know why they are doing it three times and three different ways? What are the different ways? (different angles and with or without the iso spray maybe?) Sounds thorough but I honestly don't know if I could take going through that three times in one day. Tilts can be pretty draining....

Unfortunately, afterwards I felt pretty lousy and definitely needed recovery time. You mentioned a long drive home - please don't attempt to do this on your own afterward. I would strongly suggest having someone else with you (some places insist on this anyway) especially if you're a fainter.

Good Luck!

Pardon my language, but there's no f-ing way in Hell you can drive a 15 minute drive home after a Tilt Table Test let alone 3 and 1/2 hours.

do not drive! I was out of it!!! I could barely make it to the grocery store and I did not even faint. I slept for 2 hrs when i got home and I thought I sure wish i followed the orders about not drinking before, yuck, i got sweaty and really felt the nausea at the end. I am hoping to go to the Mayo for a full work up this fall, still waiting for my appointment through my doc, does anyone know if I have to repeat the TT?

Thanks for your replies!

Ok, don't worry I am not driving, my husband is. I have to do the standard ttt, then the one where they wrap your legs, and finally one where they will take a blood sample while you're doing it.

I will have a blood volume done before all of this. They told me not to eat or drink after midnight the night before. We have to drive home that afternoon so I guess maybe I will feel wiped out according to your posts.

I am not looking forward to it, but who does.

Good to know you are not driving! I had another one just last week and was completely worthless for the rest of the day! I could not imagine trying to drive after that. I would have passed out for sure! Good luck with your testing.
