are anyone's blood pressure and heart rate higher when they wake up? i usually find this to be the case after a nap. i just slept for about an hour and a half, and took my bp and hr as soon as i woke up. blood pressure is 130/74 and heart rate is 110. i thought blood pressure and hr decrease when one sleeps! i don't really think that i have this problem when i get a full night's sleep - only when i nap. i'm pretty sure when i wake up in the morning, my heart rate is around 70 and my blood pressure around 100/50. whenever else i take a nap, i also find that when i wake, my heart is racing. it will stay like this for hours, i will feel really disoriented, and much worse after i sleep than before. i'm obviously having sleep-cycle issues, but can't really understand what's going on. does anyone have similar problems? and know why? what is involved in napping versus full blown sleeping? is norepinephrine involved in sleeping?
^Mine is the same, even after just a nap. My BP is too low and is slow to adjust, while HR will jump into the 160s. I'm lucky if I don't land on my face after I get up. lol
How long are you sleeping and do you get dehydrated during sleep? While it likely isn't a cause it can make you feel awful after you wake and last for several hours - makes me wonder why I bother napping at all.

My HR is always highest when I first get out of bed. It was even worse a couple years ago back when I was really having a problem with tachycardia. It slows down a bit after I've been up for a while. As for BP, I've read it decreases when a person falls asleep but that even an active dream can raise it as the person is sleeping, and it gradually climbs back up again as we prepare to wake.
interesting. although, my heart rate and bp are high before i actually get up. it's quite noticeable to me the second i wake up. and this afternoon, i took my vitals without getting out of the bed. i'm pretty sure something is askew with my sleep cycle, especially because this only happens during a nap. for some reason, the initial sleep cycle that one goes into before the REM really messes me up. but i'm not sure what is involved in that process.
