I have been suffering with lower back pain x 2 months and tried to work at the same time. The back pain continued to get worse. There is a physicological reason per MRI I have two herniated discs and they won't do surgery. Anyway I was at work one morning and I had brain fog so bad. I would be mid conversation and stop, close my eyes for a few minutes and the pick up as if nothing happened. This happened all morning. This is per eyewitness account, I had no clue. This prompted my boss to send me home and not to come back until better. I am a nurse and I cannot function like this. Anyway this continued x 1 week. I lost a whole week. During this week I can remember vivid dreams with talking out, being incontinent of bowel and bladder and my husband cleaning me up. My son stated that I spilled coffee on my throw blanket and I don't remember. Is this probably a stress response related to my DYS due to severe pain
I haven't experienced what you mention but it sounds like something my neighbor just went through. She would be talking to someone at work and just kinda zone out and stop and sometimes stare, then she would come out of it and have no recollection of what had just happened. It also happened several times while she was talking to her husband. It turned out to be a type of seizure caused by menopause. The hormonal changes were causing this. It can happen other times but hers were directly caused by menopause. I don't mean to frighten you or anything saying it may be a type of seizure but it might be something you want to look into. Good luck...

I had two days kind of like what you describe. I went to ER because I wasn't able to tract or remember what just happened. It thought I was having a stroke.
They did blood work and found I was low on sodium and iron. Other wise the doc in ER was a dork and said it was anxiety.
My regular doc had no clue what it was.
I do think it would pay to see your doctor. (even though that didn't work for me).
I don't know how stressful you job is combined with the family life or if you have children too, but It sounds to me like you may be getting "overload" sometimes you get so many things going on at once that the mind can't take it all in so it is self protecting kinda like going into auto flight. I would get check though cause you never know. hope you feel better, I know nursing can be very physically as well as emotionally draining, average burn out is 7 yrs. I did it for 15, I hope I never have to go back in nursing
